AEP Ohio guide
How to find your AEP Ohio SDI number without guessing
The most common enrollment mistake in AEP Ohio territory is entering a billing account number where an SDI is required. Here is a quick method to find the correct 17-digit SDI and avoid avoidable delays.
SDI and account number are not the same
Your SDI (Service Delivery Identifier) is a utility service-location identifier used in market enrollment workflows. Your account number is a billing reference. They can both appear on the same bill, but they are different values with different purposes.
If you submit an account number in the SDI field, suppliers often reject the enrollment until corrected. That can add days to a switch that otherwise would have moved forward immediately.
Where to find the SDI on an AEP Ohio bill
- Open your full bill details, not just the remittance stub.
- Go to the section that lists electric service charges or service details.
- Locate the value labeled SDI or Service Delivery Identifier.
- Confirm it is 17 digits and starts with 00 before submitting.
If you have multiple meters or service addresses
Multi-unit properties and business accounts can show multiple service points. Always match the SDI to the exact address you are enrolling. If two values are present, compare the service address line before choosing one.
If you are unsure, call the utility support number on your bill and ask them to confirm the SDI for that specific service location.
Common SDI submission mistakes
- Using account number instead of SDI
- Dropping leading zeros
- Submitting an SDI from an old address
- Copying from a screenshot that cuts off part of the value
